Fazenda Guarani (Lot 2)
Full body with a rich, creamy mouthfeel, intense sweetness and notes of chocolate mousse, macadamia, raisin and cook spices.
This coffee was produced by Maximo Thezolin, a fourth-generation coffee farmer. Fazenda Guarani was originally owned by his great grandfather and has been passed on, generation to generation, until Maximo took it over in 1990. Today the farm is managed by Maximo and his father, who has continued to help with the family business.
Fazenda Guarani is located in the district of Muniz Freire in the state of Espirito Santo, near the mountainous border of Minas Gerais and the Matas de Minas growing region. The area’s high altitudes, rich, fertile soil and plentiful annual rainfall provide exceptional conditions for producing specialty coffee.
Fazenda Guarani is 250 hectares in size, 100 of which are dedicated to coffee. The farm is planted out with Catuacaí and Catuaí variety trees. This particular lot is 100% Catuacaí, and it was processed using the pulped natural method. All of the coffee was hand picked when ripe. It was pulped and then laid out on a patio with the sticky mucilage still attached. The beans were then carefully dried in the sun and turned regularly to ensure the coffee dried evenly and consistently.
Mr Maximo and his father care deeply about the environment and go to great lengths to preserve the natural springs and habitat in and around their property. This environmental awareness has also been passed down from generation to generation.
This is the first year we have purchased coffee from Fazenda Guarani. We hope to be able to buy from this farm again and establish a long-term relationship with Maximo. We have been extremely impressed by the quality of this coffee on the cupping table, and have bought three different lots this season. We hope you enjoy it!
