Let’s Cup Ethiopia!

Published 5 October 2021

We love tasting coffees from our roasting community and one of our favourite ways to do that is through our regular Let’s Cup events. Get excited because it’s time to celebrate Ethiopia!

We’re inviting roasters who have purchased Ethiopian coffees through Melbourne Coffee Merchants to send us their roasts of the coffees, which we’ll cup and consider as a team. Participating roasters will receive samples of all of the submitted coffees to taste and compare at their own convenience.

Ethiopia produces some of the most mind-blowingly complex, elegant and nuanced coffees in the world, instantly recognisable from their fragrant and floral scent alone. Like many coffee lovers, we adore Ethiopian coffees and look forward to their arrival in Australia every year.

This season, we were delighted to continue our supply partnership with Testi Specialty Coffee, who own or manage production at washing stations, JigesaAroresaWerka and Hadeso, and whose washed and natural lots have consistently stood out on our cupping table. We featured some delicious lots from the privately owned estates, Mormora and Moredocof, and were delighted to add two single producer lots to our offerings, from farmers Bogale Turkey and Addisu Hulichaye

Overall, we were blown away by the high quality and complexity of this year’s coffees, which sold out before they landed! We are so excited to taste them from our roasting customers, and to celebrate the hard work and skill of our producing partners during this year’s Let’s Cup Ethiopia!
