We are looking for a Customer Relationship & Sales Manager to join our team.

The Sales & Customer Relationship Manager is responsible for driving MCM’s green bean sales and providing exceptional advice, support and guidance to our customers.  This role requires someone who demonstrates knowledge, passion and appreciation for specialty coffee and is obsessed with quality and delivering exceptional customer service.

This role will involve cupping a lot of delicious coffees, and developing an intimate understanding of each of our customers’ needs, and helping  them to plan and select exceptional coffees. It requires someone with excellent communication skills, who loves people, and is genuine, caring, professional and mature.

The day-to-day elements of this role will change a lot, and require someone who thrives on variety, motivated to drive business development and sales.  The Customer Relationship and Sales Manager will be working out of our office and cupping lab in South Yarra, but will also spend time on the road (locally and interstate) visiting current and potential accounts.  There may also be some international travel to meet with our producing partners to buy coffee and/or connect customers with our growers.

Specific Tasks include:

  • Helping our customers find delicious green beans to suit their needs, and making this process as easy and satisfying as possible.
  • Developing and nurturing long-term relationships with customers, based on openness, empathy and trust. Provide exceptional customer support and after sales service.
  • Proactively work with customers to assist them in planning their green purchasing and anticipating their requirements ahead of time to ensure they end up with coffees that best suit their needs.
  • Managing and dispatching samples and hosting customer cuppings.
  • Learn about, and communicate, our offering. Coordinate a dynamic calendar of events and communications (newsletter, social media, blog) to support and drive sales, create value and educate customers.

This job requires:

  • A minimum 2 year commitment.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • A background in Sales, Customer Service and/or Account Management. You need to enjoy sales, be motivate by targets, but more importantly, enjoy working with people, and be passionate about providing exceptional, tailored customer service, and willing to go above and beyond.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. A good story teller, with strong copy writing skills.
  • A positive mindset. A can-do attitude, and drive to do things well. Comfortable working independently and as part of a a small team.
  • Exceptional knowledge and passion for coffee.  A good understanding of coffee growing and processing practices. A great palate for tasting and talking about coffee flavours.
  • A passion for learning, an open mind, curiosity. Someone who takes control of own learning.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, including the ability to manage a high and variable workload and changing priorities, meet deadlines and solve problems on the fly.
  • Openness and willingness to continually evaluate personal progress, seek and utilise feedback and actively develop ways to grow, learn and develop skills.
