Get excited for Chapada Diamantina!
The region surrounding Brazil’s Chapada Diamantina mountain range is home to a tightknit community of independent smallholder farmers, who produce some of country’s most distinct coffees. Their skill, experience and hard work, paired with the geographical advantages of the region, result in coffees that are uniquely bright, transparent and fruit forward.
The arrival of Piatã and Mucugê pre-shipment samples is an exciting time in our cupping room, and we’re delighted to share these special coffees with our roasting community.

We’ve recently added four outstanding coffees from Chapada Diamantina to our offer list, ahead of their arrival in mid-April. Read on to learn more about these incoming lots and let us know if you’d like to taste samples or get a recommendation from our team.
São Judas Tadeu | Piatã, Bahia
Cup of Excellence stalwarts Antônio and Terezinah Rigno consistently produce lots that are distinct and refined, with great longevity of flavour. This year’s São Judas Tadeu pulped natural is well-structured, with ripe strawberry and lemon squash; their natural offering is syrupy and fruit-forward, with blood plum, dates and chocolate mousse.
Cerca de Pedras ‘Sakura’ | Piatã, Bahia
When our good friend and supply partner Silvio established Cerca de Pedras in 2019, he divided the land into four different coffee plots: São Benedito, Pasagem Pedras, Sakura and Beira Rio. We’re thrilled to be offering coffee from Sakura’s first harvest: a rich and well-balanced lot with marmalade, cherry and dark chocolate.
Gandula | Chapada Diamantina, Bahia
This exceptional Fazenda Progresso microlot is a passion project of the company’s Head of QC Ednaldo Nascimento (nicknamed ‘Gandula,’ which translates to “ball boy”), who spends the harvest looking for lots that, when combined, create a vibrant, distinct and fruit-driven cup. Its latest iteration has great depth and clarity, with notes of plum wine and dried apple.
