Kenya and Ethiopia Have Hit the Offer List!
Published 30 May 2023
Our fresh crop Kenyan and Ethiopian coffees have just been added to our offer list! Selected during our trip to Africa earlier this year, the line up is made up of larger day lots from quality-focused factories and washing stations, along with small single-estate lots from many producers we have worked with in the past. We’re so excited to share these offerings with our roasting community here at home-get in touch now to learn more about the season, or make reservations ahead of the coffees arriving between
July and August.
Our container of Kenyan coffees set sail earlier this month, carrying a variety of distinct lots cupped and chosen during our visit in February. Once again, we’ve worked with the talented team at Kenyacof to source coffees that present outstanding quality, paired with excellent traceability and transparency. Through this relationship, we have access to offerings from forward-thinking producers like Joseph from Kabumbu Estate and Peter from Petit Estate, as well as exceptional day lots from factories like Gachuiro and Wahundura.
After cupping pre-shipment samples (PSS) we’re happy to report the quality and complexity presented on the table is excellent. While we have now exhausted our limited supply of PSS for these coffees, we’re available to jump on the phone anytime to take reservations based on your preferences, to be confirmed once landed samples are cupped.
This shipment is due to arrive in July, with samples available once the coffees reach our warehouse. Get in touch now to ensure you don’t miss out on any of these delicious coffees!
This year’s two Ethiopian shipments are largely made up of coffees sourced from Testi Specialty Coffee‘s network of premium washing stations, along with three single-producer lots from the Lalisaa Project. The first of these containers is already on the water, with an expected July arrival. Along with washed and naturally processed coffees from well-regarded washing stations like Hadeso, this shipment includes two specially- prepared lots: Yaye Anaerobic and Adorsi Anaerobic, which showcase Testi’s meticulous approach to processing, and the impeccable quality of the cherry delivered to their washing
stations by local outgrowers.
Our second Ethiopian shipment is all about the crowd pleasers: besides perennial favourites Jigesa Washed and Werka Natural, also from Testi, it contains an outstanding natural lot from Lalisaa Project member Addisu Hulichaye, whose coffee we have featured for several years running. The container has been topped up with another stunning single-producer lot from fellow Lalisaa Project farmer Wako Aba, a former honey producer turned coffee grower in Ethiopia’s renowned Kochere region. The shipment is due to land in late August, with samples available in mid-June.
Please note, due to high demand we require that all Kenyan and Ethiopian offerings are paid for in full within a strict 30-day period from landing – although we are happy to store the coffees for as long as required, provided they are paid for in full. This is to ensure we are seeing income from these coffees relatively quickly and to build cash reserves to pay for future shipments. Please consider these payment terms as you reserve your allocations from this year’s line up. Head here to look at the full list of available coffees.
