It’s time to plan for Brazil!

Later this month, Fleur and Toshi are visiting our Brazilian supply partners Fabiano Borré (pictured above) and Silvio Leite, to select coffees from the current harvest. Because most roasters rely on rich, syrupy coffees for their espresso blends, our sourcing trip to Brazil is one of our most important of the year. That’s why, before they head off, we want to hear from you to help us accurately plan for the 2025 season.

The harvest has kicked off early for Fazenda Progresso as well as for many of the smallholder producers Silvio Leite connects us to. Whereas last year’s crop was delayed and low-yielding, 2025 is looking like a more stable season. Consistent, well-timed rains have helped trees produce larger, denser beans, which is translating to excellent results on the cupping table.

While on the ground, we’ll focus on finding clean and consistent high-volume lots that represent excellent value for blending lines. We’ll also be on the hunt for distinct, standout microlots that showcase the regions where they were grown, and shine as either espresso or filter offerings. The shipments containing these coffees will be landing from the end of November 2025 through to March 2026.

As is always the case in Brazil, we’re looking forward to a very productive trip. Our first stop will be Chapada Diamantina, where we will spend time with Fabiano Borre at Fazenda Progresso and taste and select our larger natural and pulped natural lines for the season, along with microlots Airumá and Sincorá. During the trip, Fleur and Toshi will also spend time in Piatã, visiting Silvio’s own farm Cerca de Pedras, Antonio and Terezinha Rigno (of São Judas Tadeu), Aneiuson Souza (of Sítio Capão) and of course, Kleumon Moreira of Sítio Canãa. We can’t wait to catch up and drink coffee together again!

Over the next few days, we’ll be contacting customers who regularly purchase Progresso and Piatã lots, to get their buying intentions for this year. Given the complex nature of our Brazilian sourcing program, gathering requests early on is key in building an accurate buying brief, contributing to an efficient purchasing season. Whether you would like to feature a particular offering you have loved in the past, or to brief us in on your preferred flavour profile, regional characteristics or intended volumes, our team is on hand to discuss what you’re after.
