Celebrating the Musasa ECD Centre!
Our most recent visit to Rwanda included a very special milestone: the official inauguration of the Musasa Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD), the culmination of the successful Supporting Strong Women campaign.

To commemorate the centre’s first anniversary, we’ve put together a video of the day, which you can watch below. Made with the help of Denyse Uwera (author of ‘Strong Women Behind a Strong Coffee,’ the book that inspired the campaign’s name) and her team, the clip captures some of the ceremony’s most joyful moments, along with a tour of the impressive facilities and heartfelt conversations with key members of both the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative and the Rambagirakawa women’s alliance.
We hope this gives you a sense of how special the celebrations were and of how much your support of the campaign has achieved!
Since its opening in January 2025, the centre has become part of everyday life in the town of Ruli, and hugely important to the entire cooperative (paticularly for the women of Rambagirakawa) during the coffee harvest. The co-op has big plans for the ECD’s future, and we cannot wait to see how far they expand and grow its activities.
We join Rambagirakawa and Dukunde Kawa in thanking you for being a part of the campaign — the centre will continue to make an impact in the community for years to come, and we feel immensely proud of everyone who came together in support of Rwanda’s strong women!
