Our first Guatemalan offerings of the year will land this week!

The two shipments include several available offerings: three refined, intensely sweet coffees from Antigua Guatemala’s Zelaya family, along with a number of unique and distinct lots grown and processed in Atitlán and Huehuetenango. The line up is incredibly versatile, representing some of our most treasured supply relationships. If you have reserves, keep an eye on your inbox for updates, or reach out to book a delivery once our team has cupped and approved the lots from the second half of the week onward.

After a promising start early in the year, Guatemala’s coffee harvest was slowed down by irregular rain patterns that moved through its growing regions. While the disruptions these created didn’t affect coffee quality, they did interfere with farm operations across the country. Harvesting, processing and drying were out of their usual sync for most of the season, as cherry ripening slowed down considerably in some regions, while in others, patios and raised beds ran out of room for parchment when drying took longer than expected.

Although bottlenecks at both wet and dry mills resulted in minor shipping delays, once things got moving again, they progressed at a steady pace — and most importantly, coffees are tasting as great as ever! The incoming line up has something for everyone, and because we increased our order for the year, we have plenty of fresh crop coffee to go around. Keen to taste the full selection?
