Piatã season is here!

Made up of delicious coffees grown on the hills that surround the beautiful town of Piatã, our final container from Brazil’s latest harvest is landing this week! These offerings are some of the most distinct Brazilian lots we source, and we’re excited for our roasting partners to start receiving them over the coming days, once we have finalised internal QC.

Following a low-yielding season in Brazil, along with increased demand for these exceptional coffees, our supply out of Piatã moved faster than ever before. While the line up has now almost sold out, we have two lots available from one of our most meaningful partnerships in the region: Kleumon Moreira of Sítio Canaã. 

Having cut his teeth working with Cup of Excellence stalwart Antônio Rigno, Kleumon is quickly becoming one of Piatã’s most prominent producers. Thanks to his curious spirit and enterprising nature, along with the help of mentor Silvio Leite, Moreira has learned how to make the most out of the region’s uniquely privileged terroir. That’s why, along with the coffee he grows, Kleumon has established a succesful nursey business at his estate, where he sells seedlings and gives neighbouring farmers advice on the varieties best-suited to their properties. 

With this level of experience, it’s no surprise that Sítio Canaã lots always stand out on the cupping table. MCM has had the privilege of buying most, if not all, of Kleumon’s crop every year since he established the estate, because we love the fruit-driven, well-structured and transparent coffees produced here. A few bags remain of his natural and pulped natural lots, presenting a great opportunity to showcase the work of such a young, forward-thinking producer side by side.
