Happy birthday, Dukunde Kawa!

This March, Dukunde Kawa Cooperative celebrated their 25th anniversary! In these two and a half decades, the co-op has impacted the lives of countless Rwandan coffee farmers — playing a key role in elevating the country’s specialty coffee industry.

We’ve been visiting and sourcing coffee from Dukunde Kawa Cooperative since 2008, making it one of our longest standing relationships. The co-op is truly inspiring, as they are deeply committed to improving the well-being of their members by investing in programs that add value to their crop, while also promoting economic prosperity even during coffee’s off-season.

Earlier this year, we produced a video with Rwandan storyteller Denyse Uwera and Dukunde Kawa’s Managing Director Ernest Nshimyimana that goes deep into the many ways the cooperative is transforming Rwanda’s Northern Province for the better.
