November Shipment Update

Published 1 Nov 2022

With plenty of delicious, fresh crop coffees landing so close to the madness of the holiday season, we figured it’s a good time to give an update on what’s currently in the country and what’s coming up next. Check out our overview below, and get in touch anytime to chat further about your coffee requirements and requests!

IN STOCK:

Guatemala

As our most recent Let’s Cup event confirmed, this year’s Guatemalan coffees are of spectacular quality and have only improved with a few months of rest!

Just a handful of lots remain in stock, including two lines from the renowned region of Huehuetenango (Calahute & La Providencia), one from Antigua (La Soledad), and one from the historical region of San Martín Jilotepeque (El Retiro) — all perfectly suited for either filter or espresso roasting.

Colombia
—
In Colombia, we work with our long-time supply partner and friends, Pergamino, to source outstanding regional blends from small producing communities in remote regions of the country. We are currently offering Small Producer lots from Cajamarca in Tolima; El Hato in Antioquia; and Belén in Cauca, where we also sourced  single estate lot El Jardín. These coffees represent excellent value and versatility in the cup, and will shine across filter and espresso applications.

For those after a Colombian blending line, Macizo Colombiano has great intensity and sweetness, with the perfect amount of acidity to work a treat through milk!

LANDING SOON:

Brazil

We have one remaining coffee from our in-stock Brazilian line up, which is ready to order now! Sitio Canaã is an exceptional single producer lot from the unique region of Piatã, grown and processed by our good friend, Kleumon Moreira. Thanks to a combination of impeccable farming and processing, this lot is tasting fresh and lively, and will work perfectly as a filter or single espresso.

The first of our 2022/23 containers are due to land shortly, and will be ready for dispatch before the end of the year – for those with reserves, keep an eye on your inbox for updates as the coffees get closer to landing. We will also have a handful of bags available for spot purchasing, from both Fazenda Progresso in Bahia, and EcoAgricola Estate in Minas Gerais. Get in touch now if you’re keen to learn more!

Ethiopia
—
Despite a few delays in transit, our final container out of Ethiopia is due to land next week! We will be cupping landed samples as soon as they are available, and will begin dispatching reserves once approved.

We have three remaining offerings available out of this container: Gera Washed and Worka Chelchele Natural, which were sourced in partnership with new supplier Tracon; and single producer lot Ayele Begashaw Natural, who is part of the Lalisaa Project. We can’t wait to share these with our coffee community in Australia – get in touch to request samples once they have landed!

Rwanda
—
We have strong, long-standing relationships in Rwanda and we’re passionate about supporting and promoting these coffees. We currently have two containers from this beautiful country on the water and landing late this month: the first is made up of coffees sourced from washing stations owned and operated by Buf Coffee, and the second contains coffees from our long-time supply partners at Dukunde Kawa, Koakaka and Maraba cooperatives.

Our selection has hit the offer list, and although we’ve run out Pre-Shipment Samples (PSS), our team is here to give you a recommendation for what might suit your menu best, or take a request for samples once the coffee lands.

ON THE HORIZON:

Bolivia

We’re heading into the cupping room this month to cup and select our Bolivian offerings from this year’s season! We can’t wait to get started, and we’re keen to hear from you before we confirm our purchasing.

While 2022 has been a challenging harvest for our longtime partners Los Rodríguez of Agricafe Bolivia – with a significant drop in yields and availability of their total usual offerings – we are expecting to see good volume of larger washed lines and Sol de La Mañana lots. There will be more limited availability of Agricafe’s specially-prepared and rare variety lots— informing us of your intention to secure some of these will be curcial in ensuring you don’t miss out on any! These coffees are anticipated to land around February or March 2023.

Piatã
—
After our Brazil trip in August, we’re excited to receive and cup more offer samples from Piatã before confirming this year’s final selection! This privileged region of Brazil is home to some of the country’s most exquisite coffees— as their bright, floral and complex profile is quite different from the coffees we source elsewhere in Brazil. Let us know now if you’re looking for something special from this region and we’ll include it in our brief!

We feel fortunate to have been sourcing coffees from this region since 2015, with the help of longtime friend and mentor Silvio Leite. With international acclaim for Piatã on the rise (it contributed 11 out of this year’s 24 Cup of Excellence finalists!) now is the perfect time to include them in your coffee menu!

These coffees are anticipated to land around February or March 2023.

With all the delicious coffees in stock and on the water, we are ready to find you the perfect lot to suit your menu. Get in touch to chat further about your coffee needs— we’re here to help!
